Neighbourhood love for Helsinki

Helsinki should be a city where everyone can live their own life in an environmentally sustainable way. My political goal is Helsinki where everyday services, communities and nature can be found close to home. That is the love of neighbourhoods in the way of Helsinki.

I considered long time about whether I wanted to stand for election again. The reason is that the current culture of political debate has become contentious, hateful and self-centred. Politics has turned into show, where the most important thing is not to find common solutions but to collect likes on social media.  Despite this - or because of it - I decided that people must have an alternative for contentious politics.

When I first stood for the Järvenpää municipal elections in 2012, as a high school student, I wanted to reform the way we do politics. At the time, we were living in the aftermath of the euro crisis, and even then the social debate was plagued by an atmosphere of blame and bickering.

My motivation for standing for election is still the same as when I got elected in Järvenpää's municipal politics more than 10 years ago. I want to reform the way politics is done. I want to promote political culture that is based on listening, discussion and researched information.

Another reason for running for City Councillor is my current research work. For the last four years, I have been working on a PhD on the challenges of urbanisation and urban development.

I want to bring the voice of urban research to the political decisions to make Helsinki a more attractive, equal and green city. A city where communities, services and local forests are close to home.

If you want to support my journey to the council, you can send me a low-threshold message on social media or donate to my election campaign via this link

Every euro counts, as just 10 € buys me social media exposure and 100 € buys me a stack of leaflets.

See you at the streets of Helsinki!
